Barack's Gonna Take Ant's Money - [NSFW - Language]

Back on November 5th, I was listening to the Opie & Anthony Show. Co-host Anthony Cumia, who is not an Obama supporter, claims that once Barack Obama became the President Elect, black people started harassing him. Once such case of said harassment was when a black man walked out in front of Cumia’s Escalade forcing the high profiled radio star to screech to a halt. When Cumia yelled at the man, the man simply replied, “Obama president naaah!” This of course caused Cumia to loose his mind and rant on the show...More

Golly Gee, The News Manipulates Us?

It's a fact that many of you can't bare to accept, the new is now entertainment and not true reporting. In the video below, creative editing give you the impression that Opie & Anthony producer, Primetime Sam Roberts, is an iPhone fan...he's not. Watch the video, he's the fluffy headed boy in the yellow t-shirt & hoodie, then read the article linked here to find out what he really had to say about the new iPhone 3GS.

Two things, 1) sorry that there's and ad before the video and 2) the video embedding stinks, it doesn't fit and it leaves this huge space above the video, yuck.

Read the truth.

Mission STS-125 - Trip to the Hubble

I was bouncing around on the net and found some truly great pictures of the mission to the Hubble Telescope. There are many pictures of the shuttle prep and I always find the magnitude this single project. I know it's a huge drain of resources but think of it like this, once we destroy this planet, we will need to live somewhere. Anyway, I would have loved to be the photographer on this assignment.

Today, I Feel Super!

Picture by Gregg O'connell on Flickr.com

The Landing of the Mothership

George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic will be gracing the Downtown Buffalo area at this year's Thursday At The Square concert series, (used to be called Thursday In The Square, but they realized that spelled T.I.T.S.). The show is scheduled for July 16, 2009 and I am super duper elated about this. Also happy that there appears to be no opening band that day so get ready for 3+ hours of Funk. Also this summer at T.A.T.S., ( I still prefer T.I.T.S.), we have the electrically charged Robert Randolph & The Family Band. I will definitely have to check them out too. I have seen them perform on TV but never live. This is great, two amazing black acts this summer when only last year there were barely any people of color on stage in downtown Buffalo. I will see you there. I'll be the guy dancing, look for me and say "hi".

Lotus Flow3r & MPLSOUND

What's to follow are my straight up notes, unedited thoughts, on the new Prince records.

PS [that's Pri Script to me] - will edit at will

>>>>>

I do believe that MPLSOUND should precede Lotus Flow3r. They meld nicely that way. MPLS is a fun dance back to the early yrs of my Prince understanding, while Lotus Flow3r is a slightly serious rock album. ‘Cept for some of the cheddar

Lotus Flow3r
Notes
March 30, 2009

· “Boom” - can deal with the smooth latin beginning, really love the middle to end Rock Groove. Still digin hvy gtr ld. Has lotsa room tO breath, pacing is good. Mix & engineering quality – blessed.

· “Crimson & Clover” – sounds like a it was recorded live and improved. Very live & spontaneous feel to it. Don’t hate it…kinda li kE it.

· “4Ever” – Pop, typical Prince filler

· Whole Album – recording quality moderate. Over all mix sounds mid to lo end heavy, however, not enough deep bass.

· “Colonized Mind” – grabs the attention right of the bat. But not enuf tO write about…yet…There’s a bit of envlp on the lead vox, liKes it.

· “Feel Better, Feel Good, Feel Wonderful” – as Funk as a striped cat’s balls. Space aged Funkistump Jam.

· “Love Like Jazz” – As bad as “Strollin’” from Diamonds & Pearls. Reminds me of a mime and a park bench. Creepy. {Lyric Rant}Let’s not go 4 a ride. Hold on…end jam not so bad, until lyrics Love Like Jazz, again.

· “77 Beverly Park” – Not what I was expecting after sex induced delay grunts. Like a wedding dance or gondola ride. I like it.

· “Wall of Berlin” – Love the groove. Rolling bas and friendliness on the guitar. Then turns into moving rock lick momma. Then more smoking gtr leads. Beat becomes real straight aggressive but resolved dominance. I really LIKe It. Love that kick about 1:28 in. What does that remind me of? “No time this Time”? no. soMething. 3:50

· “$” – Love the electro bass and old ’80 Prince sound. Ala “Lets Pretend we’re Married”, or “Sexuality”. Is that “Tequila” I hear in there? Listen to the bass groove in the mid sec. Like it. Like many song on this wreka, it evolves into a dif groove by the end, usually & hopefully, a better 1.

· “Dreamer” – Heavy low dirt bottom grab. Calhoun sq. liX . Waiting for the real deal. Guitar solo. Do I hear a click track in there? [REVISED 03.31.09] Yup!

· “…Back 2 The Lotus” – Oops, spaced out to the end of “Dreamer”.

MPLSOUND
Notes
March 30, 2009

· “(There’ll Never B) Another Like Me” – Don’t know what to say. Not feelin’ it? Good to hear the old sounds like the Linn again. Low sidestick. Not funky enough to endure MLPSOSF. Missing the dirt of Er city due to churchiness.

· “Chocolate Box” – OS like Dirty Mind days just with fatter sounds, mo betta bass, mo betta technology.. Comes with cheese, though. Gtr bring me back in. OLD SqOOl ring positive.

· “Dance 4 Me” – Like a super cool, under-rated bSide from the days of Yor. Sexual linked lyrics but not vulgar or prof. Very Vanity.

· “U’re Gonna C Me” – initial reaction, “lame”. Fluty floaty sing song sap crap. Fits the OS genre theme, though. Gotta stop.

· “Here” - initial reaction – “oh crap”.
Lyrics start “how beautiful r u” – who cares and why are you asking. Doesn’t fit OSMSLP profile. prolly the reason women (most) love Prince. Don’t think “Valentina” is going to bee much better.

· “Valentina” – well…Is that groove got a bit of latin try in it? …Latin move, timbale sparse. OS synth as main connector riff. West coast livin sfx. There is a bit ‘o funk in there, and now the gtr solo < santana. A solid club groove, if the club was cOOl.+>

· “Better With Time” – I certainly hope so. It’s givin me the ehh chill, but…it caught my mind and kept it for a while.

· “Ol’ Skool Company” – Yup!
strate up pf typ e luv ‘n 4 y0 az.

· “No More Candy 4 U” – This is how I would write a song. Weird lines and no cool ass kb player abill’ty. But it’s got attitude. Very Ronnie t2 Russia. No more candy <<<<<< 4 U. I likin'g it more and more. quirky and silly but accurate.

Louis C.K. In The Army Now

If you have been following my posts then you know that I have been following Louis C.K.'s post on his USO tour of Kuwait & Iraq. His latest chapter is now live on his site, louisck.net. In this post he tell us about the first show since he landed in Kuwait. There is an interesting tug of war (no pun intended) between LCK's naturally dirty comedic style, military expectations and what the troops really need and want. If you give it a read you won't be disappointed.

Also, if you missed the first chapters you will find them below:

Troopers In Skirts, Must Be St. Patty's Day

Here's a bunch of pictures from our St. Patrick's Day Parade, held on Saturday, March 14, 2009. It was the first time my wife and I brought our daughter to the parade. Also, our neighbors and their two girls met up with us. It was beautiful weather, about 50 degrees and sunny. It did get a little chilly when the sun dipped behind the Holiday Inn behind us.

Side note, I used my brand new Nikon to shoot these pick. I love that camera.

Poet In Process Live @ The Mohawk Place

Last night my friend & neighbor Mark brought me along on a DJ gig he had at the Mohawk Place in Buffalo, New York. He opened for a band from Barcelona named Poet In Process. I didn't know anything about the band because I was really there to take pictures with my new Nikon.

Once the band started I was pleasantly surprised. They started with a couple of pop tunes, which were good and the band was tight, but when they dropped the pop for some serious rock grooves the show really started to move. The lead singer, very beautiful & sexy, took command of the show. Her energy was domineering and seductive while the music rambled along right with her. The show was simple and basic but the 4 pieces (drums, bass, guitar and vocals), wove a complex tapestry of raw groove and enthusiasm. I was totally captured by the show.

Visit their MySpace to hear a few tunes & visit their website for more info.

Louie Goes To War

Comedian, Actor & Writer, Louis C.K. has blogged about his recent USO tour to Kuwait, Iraq & Afghanistan, and it's really interesting to read. I love it when celebrities let us into their lives just a little bit, but it has to be real and honest to be worth my time. Louis has done this. I strongly recommend checking it out. You'll have to find the first post near the bottom of the page and read the subsequent post up higher on the page...you know, the most recent first and the first last on the page. Huh?

Well, enjoy.

Yonaguni - The Lost Temple

I absolutely love ancient ruins and lost cities and artifacts. It always makes me wonder what was happening here on Earth during the dawn of time & civilization. Well apparently about 8,000 - 10,000 years ago people were constructing architectural feats of wonder.

In the case of Yonaguni...

"...the real attraction of these islands is the submerged ruins that you find in the southern coast of Yonaguni. A superb 100×50x25 meters man-made artifact made of solid rock slabs stands erect at right angles. Its age is estimated to be around 8000 years old, which is remarkably early for the kind of technology that has been used for carving it. Different theories exist about the possible identities of this structure..."

Sex Funk Super Bowl!

Here's an interesting story circulating the net right now. Apparently, Comcast subscribers watching the Super Bowl in standard definition, not HDTV, we suddenly watching about 10-30 seconds of a porn flick.
"Shortly after Arizona Cardinal Larry Fitzgerald caught a toss from quarterback Kurt Warner to take the lead against Pittsburgh, the Super Bowl feed paused and dissolved into a scene featuring full frontal male nudity from the adult channel Club Jenna..."
Here is the full story. Now that's the real Super Bowl Shuffle.

Barack Gonna Take Ant's Money - Part 2

As you may have read in my earlier BGTAM post my song, Barack Gonna Take Ant's Money, has met with some success on the Opie & Anthony Show. It was played during their terrestrial broadcast on K-Rock 92.3 out of NYC, then they closed their XM broadcast with it the next day.

Now as I listen today, Greg "Opie" Hughes has added the hook from the song to his sound effects collection and uses it to antagonize co-host Anthony Cumia.

For additional background on the song and for a couple streams, please visit Funkship.com.

Oh, by the way, due to increased traffic on Funkship.com, Sex Funk Ambulance is back on the Funk Charts over at SoundClick.com.

So thanks for the support.

Congratulations Mr. President

I, like many others, took the day off of work today to watch the Presidential Inauguration. My mother, who was having trouble working her cable box and TV came over to watch it with me. I am very glad we ended up watching it together rather than alone.

I am so excited that Barack Obama is our President. I hope that he gets the support of the government, the citizens of this country and the rest of the world so that the change he envisions will become a reality.

I know the road ahead is going to be very dificult, but I feel a new sense of hope for this country.

Barack Gonna Take Ant's Money

UPDATE: O & A played it today (1.27.09) during their terrestrial radio show.

If any of you are Opie & Anthony fans you will be familiar with Anthonys Cumia's opinion on Barack Obama and his upcoming presidency. It's basically this, Obama is going to take Anthony's hard earned money and give it to a poorer group so that they can move up in the world a bit. Anthony then jokes about it for comedy purposes on his radio show. He also says that now that Obama has been elected, black people have been acting as though they now have the right to do what they want because "Obama president nah (now)!". This is a direct quote that Anthony claims a black person shouted at him when Anthony yelled at said person for stepping into the street in front of his car.

So I wrote a song about it. Wanna hear it? Here it go. (NSFW)

I did send it into the O And A Show and received an e-mail from a show worker that said he liked it and would "pass it along", we'll see if that play it on the show today.
