The Laugh-Out-Loud Cats

So most of us know what LOL Cats are, some of us are even annoyed by them, but I won't get into that now. Did you know that there once was a syndicated comic strip called The Laugh-Out-Loud Cats. Here's a bit of what Ape Lad on Flickr had to say about his great grandfather's comic strip.

"Not many people know this, but my great grandfather Aloysius "Gorilla" Koford, was also a cartoonist... From 1912-1913 he produced a comic strip which was featured in 17 newspapers... The strip was entitled "the Laugh-Out-Loud Cats" and featured the exploits of one Meowlin Q. Kitteh (a sort of cat hobo-raconteur) and his young hapless kitten friend, Pip..."

You can find out more in Ape Lad's photostream.

  1. okay, nate, that is hilarious. but tell me this - did he draw all those from scratch, or did he repurpose someone else's old comic strip?

  2. Based on what the guy says,it seems to me that his great grand pa-pa drew these very toons. I also belive this due to the yellow nature of the paper. Granted this could be due to bad scanning process, but who can't get a nice white scan from nice white paper these days.

    Thanks for looking and commenting!
